Promoting exploration and research
Diversity Observatory
Interest
ENS Schools have historically recruited, and still do recruit, mainly through nation-wide competitive exams among students in Preparatory Classes to French Grandes Écoles; their student bodies are composed of a vast majority of such students.
Though new ways of joining ENS Schools have been developed over the last decade in order to diversify the student body, there remain great imbalances in terms of social and geographical origins as well as gender.
Objectives
A diversity observatory at the ENS will have three main missions:
- Providing data to help decision-making for the Schools’ recruitment policies;
- Studying and assessing current experiments;
- Coming up with recommended courses of action.
