2020 DeepMind Scholarship Beneficiaries

Imad AOUALI, Léna Néhale EZZINE and Margaux TÖRNQVIST, all members of the Mathematics, Vision and Learning (MVA in French) Master’s program in the Mathematics department of the ENS Paris-Saclay, were awarded a DeepMind scholarship in 2020.

Imad AOUALI, Léna Néhale EZZINEA and Margaux TÖRNQVIST, all members of the Mathematics, Vision and Learning (MVA in French) Master’s program in the Mathematics department of the ENS Paris-Saclay, became the beneficiaries of the prestigious DeepMind scholarship in 2020. This unique opportunity reflects not only the students’ academic success, but also the importance of their work in highly impactful fields such as artificial intelligence and computer vision. 

 

  • Imad Aouali graduated from Centrale Lille’s Master’s program in Artificial Intelligence (2017-2020).
  • Margaux Törnqvist studied industrial engineering and applied mathematics during her first Master’s degree (2017-2020) at the Ecole Nationale Supérieur des Mines in Nancy. 
  • Léna Néhale Ezzine graduated from CentraleSupelec’s Mathematics and Data Science Master’s program (2017-2021).

The sheer diversity of research topics at DeepMind, from neuroscience to health or video games, shows how many aspects of our life can be affected by AI… I am particularly interested in socially impactful topics. What is the DeepMind scholarship?

The DeepMind scholarship aims to open the way to AI studies for young students from underrepresented backgrounds. Diversity is essential to the selection process.

Beneficiaries receive:

  • A monthly 1000 euros grant for 12 months,
  • Help to procure computer equipment,
  • Reimbursement of travel fees to take part in events,
  • Mentoring to help in the creation of their professional project.


Part of the Mathematics department at the ENS Paris-Saclay, the Master 2 MVA research program is unique in France. This master trains 200 students each year, and creates a unique niche at the crossroads of mathematics and its neighboring fields, offering an innovative ecosystem which includes academic labs, research groups, startup companies, medium and large businesses in France and abroad.
