Welcome Students of the Ambition Grandes Écoles Program

The Ambitions Grandes Écoles program’s goal is to support students in scientific preparatory classes to nationwide competitive exams. One of the School’s main objectives is to foster greater inclusivity and social diversity, and this program offers 30 students the necessary tools to succeed in our entrance exam.

A Gateway to Academic and Scientific Excellence

December 14th, 2024 marks a new step for this support program which began with tutoring sessions and  a methodological webinar; the ENS Paris-Saclay had the pleasure of welcoming these talented young students on campus. Anne Peyroche, vice-president in charge of strategy and resources, started with a welcome and reminded the students of the specificities of the School’s commitment, emphasizing the importance of this initiative in the fight for equality of opportunity.

“Programs like Ambition Grandes Écoles matter a lot to us, as it is very important to allow each and every one of us to discover the fields of science and research. The goal is not so much to increase the number of students accepted at the ENS Paris-Saclay, but rather to make sure that every young student has access to information regarding scientific careers, and is able to imagine one for themself.”  Anne Peyroche

This was followed by a friendly snack in the “kfet” with students of the ENS Paris-Saclay. This was the opportunity to reunite tutors already accepted at a Grande École and preparatory classes students. By chance, thanks to coinciding calendars, all of them were able to meet with 30 high school girls who were there for the Young Women in Physics Meeting organised by women in the School’s student body. This allowed for the sharing of experience and academic perspectives, inspiring discussions and was mutually beneficial.

The students of the program were then given a tour of the ENS Paris-Saclay’s campus. They discovered the School’s theater -- the Scène de Recherche --, witnessed repetitions for the upcoming show “suites pour jonglerie et violoncelle” and talked with the artists. The theater’s director presented the goals and projects of this unique place where live arts meet science. After this fascinating encounter, the students discovered the Germaine Tillion Atrium and the Alain Aspect Amphitheater: this impressive campus tour allowed the students to picture themselves as future students of the School.

“It was a captivating experience! The building is beautiful, and I was lucky to be guided by a very invested tutor. My dream is to become a researcher in mathematics, and I am proud and grateful to be a part of a program that offers me so many perspectives.”

Our Students’ Commitment, the Heart of this Program

One of the driving forces of this program is the tutors’ active participation and investment. Our students are motivated to offer a personalised tutelage to support their ten students. These tutors have had very different academic careers and thus offer a precious support: help to understand the methodology of the exams, practical tips and an open ear. Their investment perfectly embodies the values of solidarity and excellence promoted by the ENS Paris-Saclay. Their role goes further than simply sharing their knowledge: they are inspiring models for the preparatory classes students to look up to, and can show them that, with work and perseverance, being accepted at a Grande École is well within their abilities.

The ENS Paris-Saclay’s Commitment to this Program

Through this program, the ENS Paris-Saclay maintains its commitment to fostering diversity and success for all. We are convinced that this support will allow these students to overcome the challenge posed by the entrance exams and to be among the talents that will shape the future.
Keep an eye open for updates on this program, which will keep opening doors to excellence for these promising young students
